For some lucky people, falling pregnant is as easy as glancing at each other. For some couples, it may take a few months or more. But for others it can be a frustrating uphill battle to conceive (and especially disappointing after all those years trying not to get pregnant). Often the reasons for fertility difficulties are mystifying.

Why you might be having fertility trouble

Many couples experience infertility. Contrary to popular belief, infertility doesn’t mean you can’t have children full stop. It means you haven’t been able to conceive within 12 months if you’re under 35 years of age, and within six months if you’re over 35.

Sometimes infertility is caused by physiological factors like polyps, blockages, decreased sperm mobility, and so on. However, for 15 per cent of couples with fertility issues, a specific reason can’t be identified. It may be due to emotional, hormonal and stress-related issues, as well as dysfunction with the adrenal glands. These are things that Kinesiology is very useful in resolving.

Reproductive systems often ‘switch off’ when people are stressed or under pressure. The digestive system, the immune system, and the thyroid stop functioning as well as they should too. The body is geared up for a fight so it slows the systems it doesn’t require for the time being. If you’re trying to fall pregnant with month after month of disappointment, this can make you even more stressed.

You might think you’re not stressed or you handle pressure well, but stress can take a long time to show its face and reveal the full impact it has had on the body. Kinesiology not only helps you relax and de-stress, but can also resolve the underlying cause. You may not even realise what the root causes are right now, but a trained Kinesiologist can bring these to the surface.

Balancing hormones

It’s not uncommon for women to have menstrual and hormonal problems. Young women don’t tend to talk about these matters, but as we get older and it’s spoken about more, it becomes plainly obvious that there are many women who do not have a healthy reproductive cycle. If your hormones are not working correctly or you’re not ovulating regularly, Kinesiology can bring balance back to the endocrine system.

Tania O’Neill McGowan, O’Neill Kinesiology College’s Managing Director, said there were many examples of women falling pregnant after having had Kinesiology. Let’s take a look at three examples.

The woman over 40

A 42-year-old student was trying to conceive for more than seven years when she enrolled in her Kinesiology course. During a classroom lesson on hormone balancing, Nicolie O’Neill, the College’s founder, demonstrated the different techniques on the student for the class’ benefit. One month later, the student announced she was pregnant and she went on to give birth to a healthy baby.

The woman with PCOS

A male student asked if a practitioner at the college could hormonally balance his wife who had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and had not had a period for quite some time. To their surprise, after a few balances her cycle had returned. Only to disappear again. This wasn’t a surprise to the couple, considering her medical history. However, after five months had passed the woman came back into the clinic. She was five months pregnant. She had previously been told by her doctor that it would be near impossible to fall pregnant naturally.

The woman who had tried everything… except Kinesiology

Another woman came to O’Neill Kinesiology College after seeing a long line of healthcare professionals: Medical doctors, a naturopath, and an entire year with a homeopath — but still with no luck falling pregnant. She had just two Kinesiology appointments, one month apart, and she fell pregnant naturally.

This isn’t to say everyone will fall pregnant after Kinesiology — after all, no one therapy has a 100 per cent guaranteed success rate — or that it will happen after one or two appointments. But many, many couples have been helped by Kinesiology at the college over the years. Maybe you will be too. It’s inexpensive, not at all invasive and completely safe.
